How To Prepare Your Home For Summer Time

In the summer heat, it can be difficult to hide from the enormous heat. Today, basins of water and wet sheets throughout the home have been replaced by high-tech and comfortable air conditioners, fans, and thermostats. We share the best tips on how to effectively protect your home from heat.

Tip 1: Update your surroundings

Collect all unnecessary winter paraphernalia (warm blankets, quilts, woolen carpets) and send them on a seasonal vacation – to a back closet or garage. Focus on things made from natural linen, cotton, or silk. Liven up your surroundings with summer accessories, houseplants, fresh flowers, paintings, or wallpaper with images of water or greenery.

Tip 2: Get rid of dust

There is much more dust generated in the house during the summer, than in the cool season. Try to regularly monitor the cleanliness of upholstered furniture and carpets (if you do decide to leave them). A vacuum cleaner with a water filter is best suited for cleaning them.

It will not be superfluous to buy an air purifier. And so that the dusty air from the street does not make its way through the mosquito nets, periodically spray them with water using a spray bottle.

Tip 3: Check your home’s thermal insulation

It is useful to hold this event not only before the cold weather but also before the hot summer. A reliable thermal insulation layer will help keep both warm and cool in the house. Start your inspection in the attic. If the insulating materials are out of order, replace them, and if the thickness of their layers seems to you insufficient, then another layer can be mounted on top of the existing layer.

Tip 4: Ventilate your attic

The attic in a private house heats up faster than the lower floors of the house. And hot air from above can gradually penetrate the rest of the building. If your attic does not have an air conditioner, then make sure that windows are accessible and convenient for ventilation.

Tip 5: Prepare your conditioner

Installing an air conditioner is an excellent solution for creating a comfortable microclimate in the house. The quality and service life of this device largely depends on its correct use. Before summer, it is advisable to thoroughly clean all filters from dust, rinse and clean the drainage, clean the heat exchanger of the outdoor unit from lint and dust. This can be done using a sink. Be sure to wash the outdoor unit of the air conditioner thoroughly.

By far the easiest way to escape the summer heat is to install an air conditioner at home.

A cold occurs when the air conditioner is used carelessly if the supercooled air flow is directed directly into your area of residence. Make the air temperature comfortable. Direct the airflow horizontally along the ceiling. In this case, the risk of catching a cold will be minimal.

Tip 6: Keep electrical appliances away from the air conditioner

Electrical appliances generate heat during operation, which can confuse the air conditioner or thermostat. As a result, they will work more than they should, which will not have the best effect on their energy efficiency and service life.

Tip 7: Install a thermostat

The programmable thermostat allows you to optimize the temperature in your home in any season. You can connect it to the air conditioner and set the timer at a convenient time for you, for example, so that the room cools down half an hour before you return home. Modern thermostats are responsible not only for a comfortable indoor climate but also significantly save energy consumption.

Tip 8: Hang your ceiling fans

They will be an additional help in the fight against home stuffiness. Cooling air from above is evenly distributed throughout the room, creating a comfortable atmosphere. Thanks to ceiling fans, air conditioners can take a break and save up to 40% on electricity.
